According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork, Green has been “dealing with a tear in the rib-cage area.” He has one appearance so far this season in which he allowed a home run to Dan Uggla.

Valdes had a 2.06 ERA in six Grapefruit League appearances, allowing one run and three hits while striking out four in 4 1/3 innings.

The Mets take on the Nationals for game-2 of the 3-game series today at Citi Field. First pitch is at 1:10 pm on SNY.

Notes:

- JOSE, JOSE, JOSE, JOSEEEEEEEE is back!

- Luis Castillo is still out with that calf issue. Whatever.

- Rookie Ruben Tejada was sent back to AAA in order to clear room for Jose Reyes on the roster. He got hit first major-league hit last night and played super solid defense at short.

- Ike Davis has started off his season at AAA on fire. After going 3-4 with 2 doubles on the Bisons’ opening night, Ike went 1-3 with a home run and a run scored in last night’s win over the Scranton Yankees. For the year he’s 4-7. Watch out JaKobs.

The NY Mets take on the Washington Nationals today at Citi Field. Game time is 7:10 pm on SNY

In other BIG news; Jose Reyes is in the clubhouse today and should be making his first major league start in just about a year. Boy, I can’t wait to see Reyes in this lineup once again.

Adam Rubin is reporting that the Phillies have claimed P Nelson Figueroa off waivers from the Mets.

Nelson Figueroa, 36 – a lifelong Mets fan, had a stellar spring and did everything the Mets could have possibly asked yet he still did not make the team. The guy is a class act and was willing to take on any role the Mets were willing to give him. He has a rubber arm and his flexibility allows him to pitch in the pen and then the very next day spot start and vice-versa; instead, the Mets cut him.

It’s a shame, I wish Figgy the best of luck with the Phils where due to injuries, he will surely have a spot on the 25 man roster and pitch a lot.

Mets crushed the Fish today 7-1 behind Johan Santana and giving Josh Johnson his first loss against the Mets – AT LAST!

Johan Santana: 6 IP – 4 H – 1 R(ER) – 2 BB – 5 K’s – 103 Pitches -  1.50 ERA

Fernando Nieve: 2 IP – 0 R – 2 K’s – 0.00 ERA

Frankie Rodriguez: 1 IP – 0 R – 0 K’s – 0.00 ERA

Notes:

- David Wright in his 1st at-bat of the season smacked an opposite field 2-run homer. He went 1-3 with a walk.

- Jason Bay had a triple; Jeff Francoeur(2RBI) Rod Barajas and Gary Matthews(1RBI) each  had  doubles.
